Our Rotary Foundation
Oh What the Bequest Society Delivers!

At District Conference, DG Gordon Owens made a surprise announcement to his wife Ashley and her parents, Amy and George Stewart. Gordon revealed that his Bequest Society endowment will be named after Ashley’s beloved grandmother - the Jane Stewart Memorial Fund. By joining the Society and committing to include the Rotary Foundation in his estate plan at the $25,000 level, Gordon can name the perpetual endowment that’s created.

This fund will generate approximately $1,000 every year to his choice of Rotary endeavor. DG Gordon had planned this announcement - and kept it secret - for an entire year. There was hardly a dry eye in the place when he made the annoucement. Bequest Society commitments are revocable. They are structured to ensure Don’rs’ families come first. No funds are required now but the gesture and recognition can be shared freely today.

As DG Gordon mentioned, our District tripled its Bequest Society commitment from last year, which itself was tripled two years ago. All it takes is awareness.

Anyone - especially Presidents-Elect and incoming Foundation Chairs, should contact District Major Gifts officer Lee Hollingsworth at Lee@leehollingsworth.com for details and ideas for your club.
