First Annual Alpharetta Polar Bear Plunge Nets $30,000

What is red, white and blue and able to raise money? A frozen Alpharetta Rotarian at the Polar Bear Plunge of course! The inaugural event at Wills Park Pool happened this Saturday, February 1, and was a huge success by any standard.

The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau ordered up the blue skies and moderate temperatures. The Alpharetta Police and Fire Departments supplied the chili for the cookoff. The Rotary Club, Lionheart School, and the Girl Scouts provided the adults and children crazy enough to participate.

One by one, over 30 people with a desire to get wet and cold for a cause jumped from the high dive or ventured down the slide into the pool.Costume attire ran the gamut from polar bear to shark to Maori warrior. Be sure to scroll down and see all the pictures below!

The best part of all, after everyone was warm and dry, the Rotary Club of Alpharetta had raised over $30,000 for the Alpharetta Public Safety Foundation.
